The Municipality can certainly appreciate that residents want to dispose of snow from their laneways and property as efficiently and quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, there are reports of snow from private lanes/properties being pushed onto the sides of municipal road allowances. When the snow-piles are left on the sides of roads, traffic has been unnecessarily reduced to one lane and in extreme conditions the snow has drifted completely across the road making it impassable and dangerous for traffic. In addition, gravel has been un-necessarily removed from the road surfaces when these improper snow removal practices take place.
Therefore we insist that snow from private laneways/properties be kept on the originating property and not pushed onto Municipal Road allowances.
The R.M. of Wallace-Woodworth does offer lane clearing to residents at a fixed rate. Those requesting private lane clearing must complete a "Custom Work Request Release” form before work can be completed. Please see our Custom Work Rates Policy for more information.
